Supporter Spotlight – VWV
VWV is a Gauteng-based experiential agency focused on creating experiences that engage customers, inspire consumers, and build brands throughout Africa and the world. In a recent board meeting, it was decided to support African Angels Primary School and each director now sponsors a child.
Founder and Chairman of VWV, Mark Steinhobel and his wife Annie are regular visitors to Chintsa East and are each supporting an Angel in their private capacities.
Mark says, “At a recent visit to the school, we were absolutely amazed at the work Lou and Sharon and the teachers are doing in creating this world-class facility. At our next board meeting I told my fellow directors about the experience and they unanimously decided that the company should support another six Angels, one for each member of the Board.”
The decision to make an ongoing commitment instead of a once off donation was made for two reasons; Mark says, “Annie and I thoroughly enjoy the constant feedback from the school about our African Angels, and we are also able to meet them. It is this personal interaction with the girls which led us to suggest that the rest of the Directors should enjoy the same experience. We also felt that a one-off donation would not meet the ongoing needs of these children as effectively.”
Sponsoring an Angel removes the financial barriers for families wishing for a better education for their children. The allocation of sponsors follows the process designed by the parent body of children at the school, and is always from year to year. Thanks to our volunteer Caroline, sponsors are kept up to date with their Angels’ progress and activities through the term. Sponsorship is an affordable way to support African Angels, and a family in need, at the same time, and we are so grateful to the advocacy of Mark and Annie, encouraging VWV to get involved in such a meaningful way.
