On 30 November Ilka Oberlaender held an exhibition of 38 photos taken during her travels around China, and has chosen to donate all profits to African Angels Independent School.
Ilka was introduced to African Angels by long-time supporter and one of the founders of Wild Women on the Run, Lucille van der Merwe. Lucille began the Wild Women on the Run phenomenon in South Africa 10 years ago with Lisa Van Wyk, Kim van Kets and Jan Badenhrost. When she moved to China on an international assignment in 2017, she took the concept with her and launched the Wild Women run on the Wall. In 2019 the first Wild Women on the Wall run occurred, with Kim, Jan and Lisa in China.
Both annual events raise funds for local charities and African Angels is lucky enough to be one of the South African Charities. Ilka was one of the runners on the inaugural Wild Women on the Wall event .
“I felt blessed to be healthy, blessed to meet powerful women and blessed to be a part of such a team where everyone looks after each other. The idea to give something back to people in need, inspired me even more!”
