Art For Art partnered with our school in 2017 to provide funding for visual arts classes and visual art materials for our Angels. This non-profit organisation, founded by Julia Stahlman, a student and artist in the United States, started by selling the original artworks created by the African Angels learners and using 100% of the proceeds supported the teaching of a visual arts programme and materials at the school.
Since their first engagement with African Angels, Art For Art has grown. In 2019 Julia was joined by Director of Outreach, Isabella Stahlman, and together they have built additional partnerships and have received a grant from Princeton University to create an international art curriculum and to enhance their website to bring their virtual exhibits to life!

Principal Sharon Edworthy says, “It has been incredible to see Julia in the US create art exhibitions around the work of the African Angels. These visual arts classes are invaluable – they teach our children to think critically and creatively, to observe and analyse, to express feelings and to problem-solve. And all this while having fun!
“We are all very excited for their next art exhibit that will feature beautiful artwork by our African Angels students!” Join the Art For Art’s Facebook page for the announcement of the new exhibition. Prints of their previous artworks can still be purchased at here. Find out more at https://artforart.world/
But it doesn’t end there….
In 2020, Julia’s partner, Isabella founded a new non-profit called Tutor Corps and has recruited a team of tutors from the top universities in the US to help close the academic achievement gap for students in need. Principal, Sharon Edworthy says, “When these tutors were offered to African Angels. we grabbed the opportunity to help our grade 6 learners to get more exposure to English and to help prepare them for scholarship application interviews. The tutors have had to be very patient as we have struggled with power supply and internet issues, but they have risen above the challenges and been an been amazing and dedicated resource for these children. Isabella says, “I’ve loved getting to work with Lukhangele, a very special and talented 6th grader!”
We would like to thank the driving forces behind these programmes, Julia and Isabella, for their hard work and dedication to closing the educational gaps of children in.
